Our Process and technical Information

The work is photographed on film utilizing the zone system of exposure and development. My primary camera is a 4x5" folding wood field camera made by Zone VI. I carry six lenses; 90mm, 120mm, 150mm, 210mm, 300mm, and 400mm. My secondary camera is a Hasselblad 500C which allows me to set up in places that would be impossible with the view camera. I carry lenses of 50mm, 80mm, 150mm and 250mm with it. I prefer the use of film primarily because of the permanent document inherent in the negative but also because of my familiarity with the process and its utter dependability in the field under all circumstances. I then scan the negatives and print using a multi pigment process onto 100% rag paper. The adjustments made in the electronic process are kept to a minimum. I believe that this system of combining both traditional and contemporary tools provides the best process for my work and is capable of creating photographs of great depth and beauty.
